How Can Ferry County Afford To Operate An E-911 Communications Center?

The Ferry County E-911 Advisory Committee had the foresight to realize that if we did not seize the opportunity to construct an adequately sized building now, at the expense of the State, in three to five years Ferry County would have had to construct facilities at the expense of its taxpayers. Present facilities were inadequate to house the necessary equipment, so at a minimum a smaller building would have had to be constructed for the equipment, ant the dispatch area would still be inadequate. Ferry County has made its position quite clear to the Statem that without assisstance from State Taxes the County will not be able to afford the personnel and operations necessary to opeerate the system in accord with the State standards. The 20 cents State Tax was approved by the voters of Washington State in 1992; and although it was not supported by the voters of Ferry County we have received more financial assistance than any other county in the state. If and when extension of the 20 cents State Tax goes before the voters again, you are urged to support this tax to assure that Ferry County receives the assistance it needs to provide the best possible service to its residents.
